Jim Hayward was born in Lamar, MO.  He spent 6 years right out of college as a Fashion Illustrator.  He spent the next thirty-five years as a graphic designer including nearly a decade working for the Mobile Press Register.  Jim Hayward feels his early careers have had a profound impact on his life and helped define his art. 

In 2007 Jim turned to his Fine Art as a full-time career.  He has dedicated his life to exploring art as a means of understanding the world. After a period of travel he has returned to his longtime home of Mobile, Al where he currently resides and creates. 

My work embraces an interplay of forms in bold, non-traditional color combinations. I have always been intrigued by overlapping surfaces and the dynamics created by the shadows they produce. Depth, real or implied, is a constant in all my work. My pieces have no intended "inner meaning." They are visual works. I prefer to allow the viewer his/her personal interpretations.
